What We Do

Put simply, we take the questions people ask while recovering and try to answer them in a way that is easy to read on a tired evening. Most of our ideas come from real situations: the worry about driving again, the frustration of a long rehab, the confusion of choosing between a pharmacist, a GP and an emergency department.

Turning questions into articles

Each piece starts with a single question a reader might have. We gather what is generally accepted about the topic, look at public guidance from health services where it exists, and then write it up in plain English. Where the evidence is thin or mixed, we say so rather than smoothing it over.

Three things we try to do in every piece

  1. Be useful today. Each article should leave you with at least one practical step you can take, even if it is simply a question to ask at your next appointment.
  2. Stay modest. We describe common approaches and point to professional help. We do not diagnose, promise results or tell anyone to stop a treatment.
  3. Respect the reader. Recovery is hard enough without being lectured. We aim for a tone that is warm and straightforward, never preachy.

Links to other websites

Some articles mention or link to outside websites, such as retailers, clinics or other publications, where we think they add context. We do not control those sites, and a link is not a recommendation to buy anything or use a particular service. Please judge them on their own merits.

Keeping things current

Health guidance and rules change. When we notice an article has gone out of date, or a reader points something out, we review it. Our corrections policy explains how that works, and our editorial guidelines set out the standards we write to.

What we will never do

We will not invent statistics, quote experts who do not exist or present personal opinion as medical fact. If you ever feel we have fallen short of that, we would genuinely like to hear about it.

The people here

Who puts the articles together

  • Kwame

    Appointments and paperwork

Covers the practical side: follow-up dates, letters, sick notes and who to ask about what.

  • Lior

    Editor
