Wellbeing Disclaimer
Everything on Crash Survivors Network is written to inform and support, not to diagnose or treat. Please read this page before relying on any article for decisions about your health or someone else's.
Information, not advice
Our articles describe common experiences, general guidance and practical ideas. They cannot account for your medical history, current treatment, medicines, allergies or the details of an injury. Two people with the same diagnosis may need very different care. For that reason, nothing here should replace a conversation with a doctor, nurse, physiotherapist, pharmacist, dietitian, counsellor or other qualified professional who knows your situation.
Before you change anything
Talk to a professional before you:
- start, stop or change any medicine, supplement or herbal product
- begin a new exercise routine, especially after injury, surgery or illness
- overhaul the way you eat, such as cutting out whole food groups
- return to driving, work or sport after an accident or operation
- decide to ignore a symptom that is worrying you
In an emergency
If you or someone else may be seriously ill or injured, call 999 in the UK or the local emergency number where you are. For urgent problems that are not life-threatening, contact NHS 111 by phone or online. If you are struggling emotionally and need someone to talk to straight away, Samaritans can be reached day and night on 116 123.
Products and services we mention
Some articles refer to products, clinics, treatments or other websites. Mentioning or linking to them is not an endorsement and does not mean we have tested them. Nicotine products, supplements and medical procedures all carry risks as well as possible benefits; discuss them with a professional before deciding.
Who writes the articles
Our writers are not presented as medical experts. We research topics carefully and draw on public health guidance, but we are writers explaining ideas, not clinicians giving instructions.
If something looks wrong
If you think an article is inaccurate or could be misunderstood in a way that might cause harm, please tell us at desk@crashsurvivorsnetwork.org. What we do after such a report is set out on our corrections policy page.
A note from us
Recovery rarely runs in a straight line
Good weeks and slow weeks are both part of getting better after an accident. We write for both kinds.
Nothing here replaces your care team; it is meant to help you ask clearer questions and feel less alone with them.
