Data Protection
This notice explains what happens to personal information when you use crashsurvivorsnetwork.org. The short version: we collect very little, we do not sell or share it for advertising, and you can ask us about it at any time.
When you simply read the site
You can read every article without creating an account or telling us who you are. We do not run advertising networks, social media trackers or third-party analytics on these pages. Fonts and images are served from our own site rather than outside providers.
Like any website, the servers that deliver our pages keep short technical logs, for example the IP address of a request, the page asked for, the time and the browser type. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure and to deal with faults or abuse. They are kept only for a limited period by our hosting provider and are not used to build profiles of visitors.
Your cookie choice
When you answer our cookie banner, your browser stores that answer locally so the banner does not reappear on every page. It contains nothing that identifies you, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings. Details are on our cookies page.
When you email us
If you write to desk@crashsurvivorsnetwork.org, we receive your email address, name if you include it, and whatever you choose to tell us. We use that only to reply and, if you have raised a correction or suggestion, to follow it up. Please avoid sending detailed medical information; we cannot give personal advice and do not need it to answer your message.
The same applies to update requests: the sign-up box on the homepage opens your own email program with a short message to us. Nothing is stored by the website itself. If you ask to receive updates, we keep your address only for that purpose and remove it whenever you ask.
We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful for the conversation, and normally delete it within two years unless there is a reason to keep it longer, such as an unresolved complaint.
The legal basis
Under UK and EU data protection law, we rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure website and answering the people who contact us. Where you have asked to receive updates, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to how we use it or ask us to restrict it. Email us and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK or the data protection authority where you live.
Children
The site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this notice
If the way we handle information changes, for example if we add a new feature, we will update this page. Last reviewed: October 2026.
